We went to Restoran Fook Kee last few week for e-commerce assignment. Many of friends from Kampar told us that Restoran Fook Kee is worth to try it. Fook Kee Claypot Chicken Rice is a well-known local food by Kamparians, Utarians, and Tarcian.

The lady boss is very friendly and nice. When she know the purpose of us coming her shop, she willingly to tell us about the shop history and business operation. Besides that, she also tell us about the history of claypot chicken rice.
History of clayport chicken rice
Clay pot rice is a traditional dish in Guangdong Province. Claypot chicken rice is also known as 瓦煲鸡饭 in mandarin. It is usually serve as dinner in Malaysia and Singapore. Traditionally, the cooking is done over a charcoal stove and it give the dish a distinctive flavour.
The rice is cooked in the claypot first and the cooked ingredients like diced chicken and Chinese sausage will be added in later. Some places serve it with dark soya sauce and also dried salted fish
based on the customer preference. Salted fish enhances the taste of the claypot chicken rice.

Restoran Fook Kee - 福记饭店
The most famous dish in Restoran Fook Kee is the claypot chicken rice. It is a well-known shop in Kampar town. Their customers are usually ranging from the Kampar residents to the university students.
It is a traditional dish cooked by the charcoal-fire. It needs time to light up the fire and a lot of effort and skills too. The smell of claypot chicken rice cooked by charcoal is nice and got a special taste of it.
The claypot chicken rice has 2 types which are with sausage and salted fish and without these two. and there are 3 sizes for the claypot, including small, medium and large. The rice, marinated chicken, sausage and salted fish added with soy sauce and oyster sauce are placed in the claypot to be cooked on the charcoal for 20 – 25 minutes. Customers alco can order side dish like bean sprout and lettuce.

The claypot rice is delicious and it is nice texture when the rice is mixing with the sausage and salted fish. A quick stir must be done to mix up all the ingredients. The rice cooked is fragrant and the best part is the slightly over-cooked rice at the bottom of the claypot. It is crunchy and taste delicious!
Not only is the food nice, the price is also reasonable. The price paid is worth to the food as the portion is large enough.The price is ranging from RM 5.50 – RM 18.00.
Restoran Fook Kee is an old shop and the interior part of the shop is ancient-styled. The environment of the shop is clean and all the utensils are also cleaned. More than that, the service provided is also good. The worker are friendly when serving customers.
Location of Restoran Fook Kee is good and easy to find. The restaurant is located beside the Watson which along the Kampar old town main road.
